It is with joy and a grateful heart that I offer this testimony. It tells of the wonderful protection I experienced during the six years that the Channel Islands were under German occupation. I felt no sense of separation or isolation, for I realized I could never be separated from God, who is ever-present Love; also my consciousness was already occupied by divine Mind and that was the only real occupation, always harmonious and loving. I was enabled to move into a flat which contained all Mrs. Eddy's writings and many bound volumes of The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel, which gave me spiritual nourishment in abundance. It was a great opportunity to endeavor to see only man in God's image, not an aggressive enemy; this freed me entirely from resentment and from racial hatred. In fact, it was a continual opportunity for spiritual growth in the understanding and practice of Christian Science.

Later I was enabled to fly back to England, entirely without fear, owing to the help of a Christian Science practitioner. I was also helped by studying Mrs. Eddy's words in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 110). "Hidden electrical forces annihilating time and space, wireless telegraphy, navigation of the air; in fact, all the et cetera of mortal mind pressing to the front, remind me of my early dreams of flying in airy space, buoyant with liberty and the luxury of thought let loose, rising higher and forever higher in the boundless blue," and the statement farther on: "Mounting higher, mortals will cease to be mortal. Christ will have 'led captivity captive,' and immortality will have been brought to light."

Besides this beautiful experience, I have received many benefits physically, morally, and financially from the study of Christian Science. My first outstanding healing was of complete nervous prostration and fear. This disappeared as I realized God's omnipresence and omnipotence. Then came my complete freedom from taking medicines and drugs, which had become a daily habit. Mrs. Eddy shows us very clearly that divine Mind alone is the healer of the body. But best of all is the eternal wonder of the spiritual awakening to the truth of being, which comes to us through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved and inspired Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who indeed is the greatest benefactor to this age.
