DAILY BREAD
Father
, we thank Thee for our daily bread,
For grace that gives compassion for the weak
In faith, that gives us gentleness to speak
The tender word that sets the captive free
From sin and hatred and infirmity—
The potent word that makes unreal the wrong
And fills the way with harmony and song.
We thank Thee for the grace that makes us strong,
Patient with sweet humility and pure.
That nourishes our faith and will endure.
Sufficient grace will bless and heal and feed
In kindly word and self-forgetful deed,
And our affections will be amply fed
When grace becomes each day our daily bread.
