AFFLUENCE

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes of Jesus (p. 54), "With the affluence of Truth, he vanquished error." The use of the word "affluence" in this statement brings to thought the depth of Jesus' understanding of Truth and the well-being and harmony which become manifest when Truth's allness is understood. It also brings to thought the limitless outflow of good from Truth's self-existent and inexhaustible source.

In Christian Science. God's thoughts are seen to be the only true thoughts, hence the only true supply, To say that man can really live without acknowledging God. who is his Life, would not be rational. To acknowledge that man lives without affluence when affluence is an inseparable condition of Life, God, is equally irrational. Man dwells forever in the affluent consciousness of God and reflects God's affluence.

The truth of being is increasingly understood and demonstrated today by students of Christian Science as through the study of this Science they gain a spiritual understanding of God and His reflection, man. This understanding enables them, in the degree they attain it, to exchange the unreal, corporeal, limited, and impure concept of man for the demonstration of his real, spiritual, and perfect being made in God's likeness. When the fable of materiality, corporeality, and mortality is replaced by the truth that being is spiritual, immortal, and eternal, we shall see that God, Spirit, is Life, and that all life is therefore spiritual, perfect, incorporeal, whole, complete, and ageless, having no element of sin, discord, or decay.
