The Christian

A. W. Fortune in an article in Front Hank, St. Louis, Missouri

A helpful attitude toward others is one of the distinguishing marks of the Christian. Dorcas let her Christian light shine by her good works.... Jesus declared that it is these deeds of helpfulness, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the destitute, and ministering to the sick and to those who are in prison, that indicate that one belongs to the kingdom of God. He regarded this service as so important that he declared that the one who ministers to these needy ones is in reality ministering to him. The works which James declared are an evidence of faith are these deeds of helpful service.

This helpful attitude should be so natural to the Christian that this service is rendered when there is need without any hesitation or demonstration. There is no sounding of a trumpet to call attention to the fact that he has done a Christian deed.
