AWAKE TO SPIRIT

Christian Science awakens thought to behold what "eye hath not seen," even "the beauty of holiness," the wholeness of being. It uplifts human consciousness to behold man's true existence as wholly spiritual, expressing fullness of joy and complete satisfaction. To know and take hold of true substance which is Spirit, thought must be aroused from the dream of life, intelligence, and substance as existent in matter to the understanding of the indestructible, perfect, and permanent creation of Spirit.

Paul wrote in his letter to the Ephesians (5:14), "Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead [ignorance of spiritual truth], and Christ shall give thee light." And the prophet Isaiah wrote (Isa. 52:1), "Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city." Both of these exhortations indicate that enlightenment, beauty, and strength await those who obey the call to awaken.

A student of Christian Science was suffering from a recurring nervous condition which caused her a good deal of anxiety and fear. On several occasions it was necessary to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. The result of the practitioner's prayerful work was immediate, and each time the condition was met. However, this condition would reappear with a certain aggressiveness.
