Of Good Report
Offering convincing proof that the nations can work together in love and brotherhood when united by spiritual understanding and humility, eighty-three Christian Science Committees on Publication from sixteen countries, including all parts of the Western Hemisphere, the British Isles, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, met in conference in Boston last October. The Committees convened daily for five days to discuss matters pertaining to their work of correcting impositions and injustices, as provided in Article XXXIII of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, and protecting the rights of Christian Scientists to the end that they may practice their religion without undue interference. Helpful and inspiring addresses by various officers of The Mother Church and editors and executives of The Christian Science Publishing Society were heard.
All who attended the conference were inspired by the courage and faith of those who came from countries where currency restrictions and other difficulties had to be surmounted. Many of these men and women set out with little or no money, but with unlimited faith and a clear understanding that God supplies all needs. They knew that they could not be penalized for being in their right place. The were journeying to The Mother Church in connection with an activity authorized by the Church Manual. They knew their Father would take care of them, and wonderful instances of His loving provision for their needs occurred.
Recognizing the currency restriction imposed on many of these visitors from other countries, American Christian Scientists lovingly extended helping hands to those who had come to share so generously the fruits of Christian Science practice in their local fields. Certain hard-to-obtain commodities were also given overseas Committees by Scientists longing to reciprocate in some measure the wealth of inspiration brought to them by those who had forgotten self in the earnest desire to be about their Father's business.
