After eight years of suffering...

After eight years of suffering from two incurable diseases I was told that there was nothing in medical science that could aid my case. I then turned resolutely to Christian Science. Because I was healed and have been enabled to enter into the joy of the Lord through partaking of the divine nature I am glad.

Although I had heard of Christian Science only through some derogatory remarks, I knew from the outset that it was divinely inspired; and irrespective of anything said to discredit it, I felt that a healing mentioned at the time only substantiated it. I knew further that if this healing had been effected through Christian Science it proved that Science was God's agent in this day and I could trust it implicitly. I did this twelve years later, when "man's extremity" became "God's opportunity."

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the authorized Christian Science textbook, we read (p. 254), "When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path." I had joined an orthodox church at the age of twelve years. I had been brought up in a home where the Bible was studied, and I deplored the fact that healings did not occur as in Jesus' day; yet during long-drawn-out years of poor health I prayed earnestly to be delivered from diseases, seemingly to no avail. At last God gave me Christian Science. Then truly, as I waited patiently on God and sought truth righteously, He directed my path. This path led out of darkness into light, out of hate and resentment into forgiveness, out of discouragement and despair into hope and joy, out of servitude to the Pharaohs of mortal thinking into worship "in spirit and in truth," out of sickness into health and joyous activity.
