The statement, "Man's extremity...

The statement, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," well applies to the situation in which I found myself at the time I sought Christian Science. My case could be likened to the woman in Jesus' time who "had suffered many things of many physicians, ... and was nothing bettered" (Mark 5:26).

After many examinations, X rays, hospitalization for five weeks, and continued treatment for fifteen months, I was told that further medical attention could not improve the condition I was experiencing, which had been diagnosed as ulcerative colitis. During this period I was confined to my home, semiactive.

Having heard of some of the healings accomplished through Christian Science, I inquired if it would help me. I was instructed how to obtain the services of a practitioner, chose one from The Christian Science Journal, and made an appointment. After the appointment all medicine was discarded and future appointments for treatment at the hospital were canceled. Immediately confidence and hope replaced fear and discouragement in my consciousness and home, and, although it was gradual, the healing has been complete and permanent.
