Christian Science is the greatest...

Christian Science is the greatest blessing that has come into my life. On page 231 of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes: "What God cannot do, man need not attempt. If God heals not the sick, they are not healed, for no lesser power equals the infinite All-power." I have proved this many times.

At the time I became interested in Christian Science I was using profanity and had since boyhood. After reading the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly each day for about two weeks, the thought came to me that it was unnecessary and undesirable to use such language, and that it would be nice to give it up. From that time on I have been free from the habit.

As I continued to study Christian Science and attend the church services the desire came to join the church I was attending and become active in the work. But I had smoked cigarettes for a number of years, and it seemed I could not do without them. I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, which was lovingly given, but after a number of treatments the taste for tobacco remained. From time to time I would decide not to buy any more when my supply ran out, but since the desire remained I thought it would be human will power to force myself to do without them.
