A copy of the Christian Science Sentinel which was brought into our home in 1908 opened the way for both my parents to be healed. Extreme suffering which the doctors said had been caused by congestion of the brain, and from which my mother had found little or no relief, was completely healed after she began to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

At the same time my father took up the study of this Science. He had been a semi-invalid for nearly twenty-five years, and his case had been pronounced hopeless by medical authorities. Through his study and the aid of a devoted practitioner he was completely and permanently healed.

I was deeply impressed by the healings of my parents—clear evidence of answered prayer, evidence which had been so lacking in our family's religious experience. But some years intervened, during which I suffered frequent illness and underwent two surgical operations, before I turned whold-heartedly to Christian Science.
