I have too long delayed in accepting...
I have too long delayed in accepting the great privilege of expressing my sincere gratitude for Christian Science through our periodicals. My first healing was instantaneous. I had been under the care of physicians for almost eight years. The last one gave me no hope so far as materia medica was concerned, saying he had tried every drug known to medical science without results; an operation might help, but it was very doubtful.
Christian Science was presented to me by my mother-in-law. I accepted it very reluctantly, not having the least faith in it. On my way home to Oklahoma, where we were living for a time, I stopped over in St. Louis and consulted a Christian Science practitioner who had been healed of leprosy. He expressed so much love and compassion that it impressed me greatly. I had two treatments. The next morning I continued on my journey, not realizing until I reached home that I had been completely healed.
It seems that at that time I was seeking only the loaves and fishes. I was happy in my freedom from pain, and never gave Christian Science any further thought until about three years later, when a serious case of blood poisoning presented itself. Again the doctor suggested an operation, and a room at the hospital was arranged for. In my dread of an operation I suddenly thought of my previous healing and again sought Science help. I received another perfect healing overnight, and no operation was necessary.
