What Are You Magnifying?

[Of Special Interest to Children]

A Magnifying glass is a wonderful thing to a little boy eight years old. Timmie thought that he had never owned anything so delightful as the round, plump lens which made everything look larger. He kept it in his pocket and took it everywhere he went. He even took it with him to the Christian Science Sunday School.

When the teacher arrived, she found the little group bent over the glass. Timmie had brought a rose petal with him, and the boys thought they had never seen anything more beautiful than the soft colors and the tiny veins which they could see in the petal by looking at it through the lens.

Teacher told Timmie that the magnifying glass must go back into his pocket when the bell rang; but in the time remaining before class she let the boys try it out in different ways. Timmie pointed out that it must be held at the right distance between the eye and the object in order to get the best results. John tried holding it at arm's length to see what would happen.
