"Mercy and truth are met together"
The truths of the Bible understood in the light of Christian Science are of inestimable value in dealing with the problems that confront mankind. When a specific spiritual fact set forth in the Scripture is understood and accepted, it produces harmonious results.
This was convincingly proved to a student of Christian Science when, in compliance with an urgent request to be present, she attended for the first time the stockholders' meeting of a business corporation. Knowing nothing about meetings of that sort, she devoted some thought to mental preparation for the occasion. The answer to her prayer for spiritual enlightenment came in these words from the Bible (Ps. 85:10): "Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other." Realizing that these qualities of divine Mind are present everywhere, she felt a happy expectancy in regard to the approaching meeting.
A few hours later, upon entering the hall where the corporation held its meetings, she noticed an air of tension among those assembled. Groups of men stood talking together in low voices, glancing furtively at each other from time to time. To dispel the apparent sense of uneasiness, the Christian Scientist sat down and reassured herself that the truth which had come to her earlier in the day was an everpresent spiritual fact.
