I should like to tell of some of...

I should like to tell of some of the wonderful blessings that have come to me during the past thirty-six years. For about four years I suffered from a serious nervous trouble which brought on convulsions every few months. I would be unconscious each time for a number of hours, a Christian Science practitioner would be called, and relief would be experienced, but the attacks did not lessen in intensity or frequency. After a particularly severe attack, following which I was unconscious for over twenty hours, my mother recommended that I go to see the practitioner. As she lived quite a distance and I was extremely shy and not very well, it was a task for me to comply; but I was obedient and like Naaman was rewarded. The practitioner gave me a copy of the Sentinel to read while she treated me, and since that time, which is over twenty-seven years ago, there has never been the slightest symptom of a return of that trouble.

Among other physical healings are those of influenza, cysts, the bad results of compulsory vaccination, and whooping cough. The latter healing was a wonderful experience to me, for it proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 210), "Christian Science never healed a patient without proving with mathematical certainty that error, when found out, is two-thirds destroyed, and the remaining third kills itself." A friend at my office had told me about her little daughter having the whooping cough and, among several other things, mentioned that the disease was hard on adults. Although I denied the suggestion, it evidently was not destroyed, for a few days later I found it necessary to remain home because of whooping cough, which got worse as the days went on. It was not until talking to the practitioner one evening that I suddenly recalled what my friend had said. I mentioned this, and the next morning I awakened entirely free from the trouble.

About eight years ago a member of our household passed on suddenly in an automobile accident. There was an almost immediate healing of grief, but the sense of shock which came to me when I was informed of this occurrence persisted for some months in spite of help from a practitioner and consecrated work on my part, and it soon began to affect me physically. I had been studying Hymn No. 64 from the Christian Science Hymnal, and one evening after a Christian Science lecture I said to a friend, in the words of the hymn, "'I know that where I stand is holy ground.'" Upon reaching home, after I was alone, I had wonderful vision of the smallness of the problem which had seemed so large and so real to me; it just faded away to nothingness, and other words from the same hymn were recalled:
