Portland, Oregon (Sixth Church).

Formal dedication of the distinctive edifice of Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist, Portland, at the corner of S.W. Park Avenue and Columbia Street, took place on Sunday, July 14, 1946. Services were held in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Progress has marked the history of the church. It was organized in May, 1917, when need for a downtown church became evident. First services were held in the assembly room of the Portland Hotel, and then for several years in the Pythian Temple.

The 100x150-foot parcel of land on which the present edifice stands was acquired in 1926. Contract for construction was awarded on March 11, 1931.

The cornerstone of this church was laid in October, 1931, and first services were held in the building on April 3, 1932.
