Pupils Learn True Brotherhood

[From a teacher in a branch church Sunday School]

In a Christian Science Sunday School class of boys of junior high school age, there was one whose conduct had presented a definite challenge. In the quiet time before Sunday School began the teacher inquired about the boy's school activities.

At first he only shrugged. Then he sensed the sincerity of the questioner and opened his heart. Both in school and in a dancing class the boy had met with racial prejudice. The experience had cut deeply, and he was prepared to find the same attitude in the Sunday School group.

The teacher knew that the other pupils would co-operate, and welcomed the opportunity to assure the boy of his real status as a child of God. She quoted Paul's words, "There is neither Jew nor Greek" (Gal. 3:28), and lovingly emphasized the fact that both teacher and pupils recognized his spiritual status entirely apart from any racial background or former religious views. All that mattered was that he should show forth the qualities of spiritual man.
