He was a wise man who said, long years ago, that as a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he," for thoughts govern character.... If a man thinks generous, pure, and noble thoughts, his character will gradually approximate the virtues which have filled his mind.

Thoughts govern actions as well as character, and all actions, whether lofty or ignoble, begin as thoughts in the mind of man.... To take no notice of one's thoughts means, ultimately, that we shall take no notice of our actions.
