TRUE RICHES
There is no doubt that by spiritualizing thought through the earnest stuck of Christian Science an individual becomes a better business or professional man or woman, a more alert student, a wiser and happier husband or wife, a more useful and dependable statesman, a better civic worker, a happier, healthier, more intelligent and useful citizen.
This comes to pass because the student of Christian Science gains some realization that his real individuality is the child of God, Spirit, His image and likeness, and that he possesses and expresses, by reflection every righteous quality, such as intelligence, hope, faith, assurance, understanding, unselfishness, love, and strength. He learns that right thinking produces right living, and that service to others, rather than getting for oneself, should be his motive. He learns the importance of improving his time and does not waste it. He is punctual, patient, practical, and faithful even in the smallest tasks. He is progressive, but not aggressive. He masters sin sickness disease, and lack—instead of being mastered by them. He has no desire either to dominate or to harm another, He recognizes that not only is his true identity the child of God. Spirit, but all real identities are children of God, living in unity and peace. He thus comes to realize that in human experience he is indeed his brother's keeper, regardless of the hater's race, color, wealth, or education.
These facts are clearly brought out by Mary Baker Eddy the author of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." On page 128 of this work she writes: "The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man. From this it follows that business men and cultured scholars have found that Christian Science enhances their endurance and mental powers, enlarges their perception of character, gives them acuteness and comprehensiveness and an ability to exceed their ordinary capacity. Referring to a knowledge of Christian Science, she continues: "It extends the atmosphere of thought, giving mortals access to broader and higher realms. It raises the thinker into his native air of insight and perspicacity."
