THE PROMISE
"Wait
on the Lord," the Psalmist says.
Isaiah gives the promise, too,
That they who wait on Him
Shall find the liberty to lift themselves
And mount on eagle's wings;
Or if they are prepared to run.
They shall pursue their course
And shall not tire;
Yea, even if they only ask to walk,
They may find strength to rise at once,
And shall not faint.
How good it is to know the promise stands
Today for you, for me, for all who call.
Wait on the Lord, with patience wait.
But make that waiting fruitful
with devout and earnest striving.
The promise says your strength,
Yea, even too your youth, shall be renewed.
