On page 57 of her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes: "Happiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love. It is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it."
Not content merely to point the way to happiness, Mrs. Eddy provided ways of gaining it. One of these is membership in The Mother Church. Membership is a summons to place less emphasis upon selfish interests and to give more thought to the great work of sharing with all mankind the secret of true and lasting happiness.
Those who believe in Christian Science according to the platform and teaching found in the Christian Science textbook (see Manual, Art. IV, Sect. 1) may apply for membership in The Mother Church.
