Christian Science was brought...
Christian Science was brought to my notice through the healing of a friend who had at one time been a physical wreck. I was not seeking physical healing, but was curious to know how healing could take place without medicine.
At that time I was a member of an orthodox church and was struck by the manner in which the minister repeatedly referred in his sermons to "our friends, the Christian Scientists," in rather scathing terms. His remarks appeared to me to be actuated by fear, and curiosity as to the reason for that fear and the cause of the healing mentioned prompted me to investigate Science.
I purchased a copy of the textbook, science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and began to read. I had not finished reading the first chapter when I realized that here was something far more satisfying than I had found in any orthodox church I had ever attended. I resigned from the church of which I was then a member and took up the study of Christian Science.
