I did not come to Christian Science...

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but for a better understanding of God: nevertheless, this Science has healed me of many physical ills. At one time I was interested in theosophy and spiritualism, but these teachings failed to satisfy me. When I first read our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which I had borrowed from a public library. I felt like a new creature.

For gaining through the study of Christian Science an understanding of God and man made in His image and likeness, I am most grateful.

I should also like to express gratitude for protection experienced while I was working in London, when enemy rockets were dropping daily. One evening I experienced a feeling of acute depression, and to find relief I went to a Christian Science Reading Room. There with the help of the Concordances I studied in our Leader's writings her references to two words, first "hate" and then "Love," after which I felt much uplifted. That night I was awakened by a heavy rumbling sound and the noise of falling glass in our bedroom, but no one in the house was hurt. The next morning I learned that a rocket had dropped near by in a garden.
