In the Bible we read that Paul saw in Athens an altar dedicated to the unknown God. Referring to it, he said to the Athenians (Acts 17:23), "Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you." That is where Christian Science found me years ago, worshiping an unknown God. The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was presented to me by a loving friend, and the definition of God contained in it aroused my interest. I desired to know more about this revelation and the "key" to the Scriptures which this book provided.

Through many years I have studied and applied Christian Science to every human problem. My first healing, that of influenza, was an instantaneous one and occurred when the epidemic was alarming. Later, I was healed of severe ear trouble, which had failed to yield to medical treatment. The healing was accomplished by my clinging to the statement on page 167 of Science and Health that "only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."

Gratitude for these healings and a prayerful desire to know more about the truth healed me of the social drinking habit and the smoking habit, which had prevented me from becoming an active church member. After these healings I had the privilege of becoming a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church.
