I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude and appreciation for the Christian Science periodicals, because they helped me in making the following demonstrations. It was a week before I left the West Coast for overseas, while waiting in line for supplies, that I temporarily lost the sight of one eye. As I stood silently the word "absolute" came to me, and I started repeating the definition of God given on page 587 of the Glossary in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. By the time the definition had been repeated twice, sight was restored. Several months before, I had read a religious article in The Christian Science Monitor, the first paragraph of which began as follows: "Absolute: Perfect in itself, unlimited in power, irrevocable." Many times while I was reading the article my eyes had focused on the word "absolute."

The second demonstration was made while I was in North Africa. I had the good fortune of attending Christian Science services there, and at one of the services I picked up a copy of the Sentinel of February 14, 1942, which contains an article entitled. "Dedicating Oneself to God." It closes with the following paragraph: "Man, the complete and perfect expression of Mind, is recognized by spiritual sense, through which are revealed the presence and the power of all-embracing good, expressed in health, peace, joy, strength, and understanding. Man, being God's idea, exists for the glory of God. It is to this great purpose that all Christian Scientists are dedicated." Several months later, while I was standing guard at an airport, the thought came to me, "What am I doing here, eight thousand miles from home?" The answer was, "I am serving for the glory of God." This thought led to the healing of two warts, one on each hand. I am very grateful for Christian Science.—Leslie M. Spitler, Los Angeles, California.
