"His arm encircles me"

Safety from every form of evil is found in the understanding of God as All, which Christian Science shows each individual is divinely entitled to possess.

Fear of evil is the bane of mortal existence. Mortals believe, with varying degrees of intensity, that somehow and at some time evil will succeed in afflicting them with disease, rob them of happiness and success, enslave them, with or without their consent, with some mode of sin, and ultimately swallow them up in the mystery called death. Not a very satisfactory concept of life and man, nor one that can logically be attributed to a supremely intelligent cause.

Christian Science makes it plain that so long as one consents to believe that the negative material mind and its substratum, matter, are real, he will be imprisoned by his own ignorant belief in a false sense of cause and effect, and subject to destructive evil in one form or another. Evil is what? Mortal mind. And so long as one believes in it as his mind, life, and cause, he accepts the role of evil's victim.
