Vacation Opportunities

As the vacation season approaches, many pupils are planning activities which will take them away for a period of time from their regular classes. Teachers and officers are endeavoring to prepare the pupils so that during their absence there will be no lapse in their interest in Christian Science.

Children like adventure; and when they learn that the vacation season is filled with opportunities for spiritual adventure as well as interesting human events, they look forward with enthusiasm to the possibilities it presents. The average child of today is active and progressive. Each vacation season finds him with new interests, a broader outlook, and a wider scope of human activities. "Each successive stage of experience," our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 66), "unfolds new views of divine goodness and love." And the wise Sunday school teacher is watchful that a constantly broadening spiritual vision governs the pupils' human interests and experiences.

Whether at home, at camp, in the mountains, at the seashore, in city or country, the spiritually minded child can always find new opportunities for the application of the truth. The teacher who keeps close to the pupils and takes an interest in their plans, their hobbies, their hopes and achievements, is in a position to help them take advantage of their opportunities and so learn by their own demonstrations that Christian Science, when faithfully applied, enriches all human experience. Children who spend their vacations away from home may be encouraged to attend the Christian Science Sunday School, if there is one in their vicinity.
