I am glad to express gratitude for a healing of what was diagnosed as chronic inflammatory rheumatism.

During my early twenties I began to suffer from stiff and swollen joints which gradually and progressively worsened until I was seriously inconvenienced. After I had spent considerable time and money with various doctors, without relief, the last one frankly stated that there was no sure cure known to the profession. The use of drugs to ease the pain on bad days was all he could recommend. This was disheartening news, as he indicated that mine would likely be a case for life. The condition did last for about six years.

A short time after this sentence was pronounced, a neighbor who heard of my problem brought over a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, with the recommendation that I read it. I did so, and nothing happened. I was skeptical of the personal application, and returned the book. However, a germ of hope was born, because I had observed that first in the list of healings recorded in the chapter on Fruitage was one of rheumatism.
