When fears like creeping mists arise
To chill us with dismay,
Love entertained will shed its light
And clarify the way.

If hate and envy seem to spread
Confusion and distress,
How quickly Love's amenities
Dissolve their bitterness!

Though prisoning walls envelop us,
Love's finger holds the key;
And comprehending this, we shall
Emerge triumphantly.
