Letters to the Press from Christian Science Committees on Publication

Presbyterian Leader

Percival Vincett Parsons, Committee on Publication for Cape Province Union of South Africa Presbyterian Leader, Cape Town

In a recent issue of your magazine you publish a subscribed article in which untrue and therefore misleading references are made to the teachings of Christian Science.

The article states that Christian Science is "a religion from which the cross has been excluded." From such misstatement it is clear that the writer's knowledge of this teaching is most meager, as many statements in the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, give evidence. I will quote two of these citations, which I think may be sufficient to convince your readers that Christian Science is not "clothed" in such "queer jargon" as your contributor would have them believe, and that the Christ and the cross are by no means "excluded" from this healing religion.
