I am deeply thankful for Christian Science

I am deeply thankful for Christian Science. It has brought me many blessings and healings, mentally, morally, and physically; and because I have been so benefited by the reading of testimonies, it is with deep humility that I offer this, in the hope that it will help someone.

In explaining the futility of mortal existence, Mrs. Eddy refers in Science and Health (p. 266) to the oft-repeated quotation, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." This statement was proved true in my experience. Loss of home, health, friends, in fact all that life held dear, forced me to turn to God, and I found the open door of Christian Science. I do thank God for it.

My first healing was that of a nervous breakdown, with its accompanying sense of paralyzing fear. This healing was slow, taking much over a year, but faithful study of the Lesson-Sermons and regular church attendance brought their reward. Many times discouragement argued, Why go to church—you are getting nothing out of it? But with gratitude for the reflection in a degree of the spiritual qualities of courage and perseverance I kept on. Even though there were times during the services when I did not seem to receive help, perhaps on the way home, or after I reached home, the load would lift and I would feel freer. Step by step, with God's help I was led out of that wilderness experience, leaving behind much false pride, false responsibility, and a great deal of self-pity and self-condemnation. I am very grateful for this healing.
