"Come unto me, all ye that...
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28). These words were a great help to me in overcoming a feeling of deep resentment toward one who caused me, and members of my family, great suffering.
I wish to tell of a healing I have experienced. I was alone in my apartment late one evening when suddenly, without any warning, I found I could hardly walk. This seemed to be brought on by misplaced bones, for which trouble I had at different times sought the aid of practitioners. On this particular evening my first thought was to telephone a practitioner, for the pain was severe. Then I realized that the nearest available telephone was over a block away, and I was unable to get downstairs. I began to take inventory of myself. I knew that within the past year I had gained a much better understanding of Christian Science than I ever had in all of my previous years of studying.
I managed to hobble into the next room, where I kept my copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I turned to the chapter on Recapitulation, page 475, where Mrs. Eddy writes: "Question.— What is man? Answer.—Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements. The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God." I read on, finishing that page and the following pages about man. Then I read on page 469, "Mind is God." I continued to read everything that she had said about both man and Mind. When I had finished the pain had ceased, and my legs were again functioning normally. I am very grateful indeed for this healing.
