Scientific Prayer and Spiritual Government
There is a great call today for each of us to play his part in dealing with world conditions, as the work of reconstruction and rehabilitation proceeds. Constantly arising are problems of national and international importance, the solution of which touches all humanity. He who is awake to the far-reaching effect of scientific prayer never tires of utilizing spiritual truths in relation to world affairs. It is not so important for him to know all the details of a problem as it is for him to be convinced of the government of divine Mind, knowing that such government is unopposed and includes all in its benedictions.
Fraught with deep meaning and comfort for mankind are the words of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in her work "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 208): "God is All, and by virtue of this nature and allness He is cognizant only of good. Like a legislative bill that governs millions of mortals whom the legislators know not, the universal law of God has no knowledge of evil, and enters unconsciously the human, heart and governs it."
These comforting, healing truths are applicable under every circumstance, big or small. God's law is so all-inclusive that there is literally no problem, individual, national, or international, to which it cannot be intelligently applied. If there are suspicion and fear among the nations, then the truths of "the universal law of God," and all that it means—its all-inclusive love, its harmony, its unifying influence, its complete perfection, impartiality, and omnipotence—persistently affirmed as ever present, can heal the situation. Should there seem to be aggression, tyranny, hatred abroad in the world, these aspects of the carnal mind are destroyed by the universal law of divine Love, understandingly utilized.
