Peace Is Revealed
The "multitude of the heavenly host" who praised God, and sang, "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men" (Luke 2:13, 14), was declaring a spiritual fact—the ever-presence of peace and good will.
In the experience of mankind, peace seems to be a blessing of the future, for which men are continually striving. Christians pray earnestly for the peace of all nations, but do they pray with the understanding which Jesus counseled in the words (Mark 11:24), "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them"? How can we receive that which seems to us so far off?
It is significant that praise and glory to God precede peace and good will to men. In studying the words and works of Jesus, which give such abundant proof of peace and good will, we see that he continually praised and glorified God. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, was taught from childhood to give praise and glory to God, and she followed so closely in our Master's footsteps that she too demonstrated peace and good will.
