The Value of Seeking

Christian Science is the religion of freedom. It is the revelation of life in God. The proper application of this vital truth in the business of daily living affords mankind freedom from the dull and ruthless enslavements of mortal existence.

In the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (Pref., pp vii, viii), we read, "Since the author's discovery of the might of Truth in the treatment of disease as well as of sin, her system has been fully tested and has not been found wanting; but to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle." Obedience to the demands of divine Principle requires that we live in conformity with our highest understanding of God.

It is not the nature of mortal thought to admit the triumphs of spirituality. So the beginner in Christian Science may find himself inclined to doubt that serious physical conditions can be permanently healed through spiritual means alone. Understanding only faintly the nature of the divine Principle as revealed in Christian Science, he may find himself limiting, as did the Israelites of old, the power and majesty of the omnipotent God he worships. Such thinking is but the protesting voice of unillumined mortal thought.
