Signs of the Times
Our Work
"W. H. S." Preston Guardian Lancashire, England
We ought to thank God every morning when we get up if we have something to do.
Something, maybe, that must be done whether we like it or not. Being compelled through circumstances to do something which is honorable, even though it be what we do not like, will bring out the best in us. Being, as it were, forced to work—forced to do our best—will breed in us temperance, self-control, diligence, strength of will, content, and a hundred other virtues which the idle never know.
