I first became interested in...
I first became interested in Christian Science when visiting my cousin in Canada. After conversing with her on the subject I realized that this was the religion for me. On my way home I wondered what my parents would say when I told them that I intended to study Science. On my arrival, I learned to my delight that they, too, had become interested in it during my absence.
I should like to relate a healing I had when a piece of straw, nearly an inch long, penetrated my eardrum while I was threshing. Those around me wanted me to have medical treatment, and they prophesied grave consequences to my hearing unless I did so. I refused, however, and got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner. Within a short time all pain ceased. At the end of a week I felt something in my ear, and the piece of straw was visible, and was easily removed.
Throughout this experience and during the three and a half years I have been in the Women's Land Army, I have not missed one hour's work through illness. While I was working on a farm it became clear to me that the mental atmosphere was not helpful to my study in Christian Science, and I applied for a transfer so that I might be near my home, where I should be able to study freely. I was told this was impossible, but through reliance on Truth the transfer took place, and I am now able to be at home every night. I am extremely grateful for these proofs of God's loving care.
