The Law of Love

A Man needing a certain tank car for his business tried vainly for many weeks to find one he might purchase. He finally dropped the search as useless during those days of emergency.

Some time later his wife was looking into the ice unit where they had stored great quantities of foods, the accumulating of which had afforded them much satisfaction. As she looked into the unit this particular morning she suddenly thought: "What are we doing? Storing, hoarding! Not trusting divine Love to supply our daily needs!" Then the line from the Lord's Prayer, "Give us this day our daily bread," came to her thought, and what seemed to her its confirmation in the tender promise of the parable (Luke 15:31), "Son thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine." The joy that came with this awakening opened the doors of heaven for the woman and a new light flooded her consciousness.

Both the husband and the wife were students of Christian Science and had rejoiced over many proofs of healing. Together they agreed to send the stored-up foods to the husband's plant and give them to the employees. There was no thought of receiving anything in return: the revelation that had come to them had brought abundant recompense.
