There's a popular song out now, something about "a happy land" being only "a prayer away." It is catching the imagination of the young.... And it is true.

We have the opportunity, here in the editorial rooms of a newspaper, to observe how often it holds true. A prayer stands between despair and renewed joy. A prayer lies between death and the resurrection.
