An interesting word is "culture." It is derived from the Latin, meaning "to till, or cultivate;" and Mr. Webster gives this thought-provoking definition: "The enlightenment and refinement of taste acquired by intellectual and aesthetic training; refinement in manners, taste, thought, etc."
Can one divorce true culture, therefore, from Christian precepts? Could the gentle Nazarene have been other than a man of the greatest refinement? One could not possibly picture him as uncouth either in manners or in speech. A much-loved hymn speaks of him thus:
