Remember!

"Remember ," says our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, "it is personality, and the sense of personality in God or in man, that limits man" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 282). In this simple and unequivocal statement, Mrs. Eddy shows the phase of error which we all must recognize and overcome if we are ever to gain our freedom from the limited sense of life, health, ability, and opportunity which too commonly hampers our lives and limits our useful activity.

A large part of the human race has long believed that God is a little-understood, manlike person residing in some unidentified place in the material universe; that man is the product of this God's personal volition, and subject to His afflictive will. Further, men have believed that creation is largely composed of a conglomeration of mortal, corporeal persons, chiefly motivated by fear, selfishness, and self-will, each one striving and struggling to hew out a niche for himself without much regard for others, with resulting friction, physical affliction, and death.

Christian Science asks no one to believe that God is an enlarged human person dwelling in the ether, or that creation's cause is in any way responsible for a transient, inharmonious material sense of identity embodied in flesh, blood, and bones, and often motivated by negative thoughts of fear, hate, and greed. Such effects cannot be attributed to the supremely intelligent cause, to whom only that is real which is right.
