Love's Healing Streams

When the world's fierce, tempestuous error weighs
With all its burden of unreal days,
Dulling the heart, how sweet to wander by
Untroubled waters or a dimpling stream,
And with glad heart of praise
Turn thought to Him
Whose love is ever nigh,
Whose government supreme
No evil mars,
No hate nor terror jars,
Nor darkness glooms, nor bitter envy sears,
But omnipresent light
Rejoices all our sight;
And then to drop those faithless thoughts and dim,
Dissolve to nothing those dull fears
In His all-mantling love,
And knowing Him,
Trusting that care
Till now unreckoned of,
Wake from perturbed dreams
And hear,
Within the heart, music of heaven's streams,
As spiritual. Lo,
From out the Rock, unbounded, clear,
On waiting sense God's healing waters flow!
