God Makes Only Good

[Written Especially for Children]

Sue was going to be a flower girl at her uncle's wedding. She was to wear a yellow dress and a wreath of flowers in her hair, and she was very happy about it.

Six days before the wedding, her body was covered with blotchy red marks, and the next morning she could hardly see. Sue seemed not to notice at all how she looked, and was merry and ate her breakfast as usual. After breakfast Mother took her to her room to read with her from the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as they had done each morning since Sue was old enough to go to the Christian Science Sunday School.

The mother's thought was full of fear and disappointment, and she said, "What a shame, now you can't be in the wedding." Sue was untroubled and said at once, "Of course I can, Mother; I'll be all right by then." The mother was not so confident. Together they sat down with the books, and Mother opened to the first chapter of Genesis and read it aloud, slowly and thoughtfully.
