Dedication services were held by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bakersfield, on Sunday. December 31, 1944.

Interest in Christian Science in Bakersfield was first evidenced in 1901, when a group met in the home of one member and conducted regular services. These meetings continued at various locations for two and a half years.
