The Perfectness of Love
The
trees, etching their green loveliness against the sky
With outflung branches, typify
The measureless and boundless meed of Love.
The songbird soaring in his tireless flight.
The blossom turning ever to the light.
The grateful heart uplifted to the Horeb height,
Acknowledge the beneficence of Love.
The rhythmic flow of waters as they play,
The golden glory of each risen day,
The muted harmony of sunset hour,
The peaceful stars' soft radiancy,
All image forth the wondrous power
That, spake, Let it be so, and it was done—
The royal mandate of the Holy One.
This is the perfectness of Love.
