Christian Science first came to...
Christian Science first came to our family about seventeen years ago, after my wife had been confined to her bed for almost a year. Although she had received the medical attention of three of our city's leading physicians, she seemed to grow weaker daily.
A friend advised us to try Christian Science, and was kind enough to lend us some literature, including a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My wife was too weak to hold the book, so it was my privilege to read aloud to her, for which I am most grateful, for we both were able to learn the truth about God. She was completely healed in a very short time.
We began to attend the Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings and put our eldest son in Sunday school. Proof of his training was brought to light a few years later when he was about six. He fell from a second-story window onto a concrete driveway without injury. When questioned by the yardman who witnessed the fall as to the extent of his injuries, the child replied, "God made me perfect and I am still perfect." At another time he fell from his tricycle, and broke his arm. He was taken to a doctor by an aunt in whose charge he had been left, and his arm was bandaged in splints. The next day he removed these bandages, saying he did not need them. The aunt, noticing that he had full control of his arm, again took him to the doctor, where an examination revealed that the break had been completely healed.
