Twelve years ago, after I had...
Twelve years ago, after I had been in a hospital, and a number of physicians, including two heart specialists, had done everything they possibly could for me without success, Christian Science was presented to me. I was completely and instantaneously healed of heart trouble, inward goiter, and tonsillitis.
The afternoon when a friend brought a copy of the Sentinel to my apartment, I was quite depressed, for I knew the physicians had given up hope of my recovery. I commenced reading the Sentinel at once, and the following sentence from one article impressed me deeply: "All things are possible to God." I was convinced then that Christian Science could heal me, and told my nurse to gather all my medicines and pills and dispose of them, and she did so. I had taken sleeping powders every night to induce sleep, and was compelled to remain in a sitting position in order to get some rest. That night, however, I took no sleeping powders, slept in a normal position all night, and the following noon I ate and enjoyed a big dinner. Prior to that time I had been on a rigid diet. From that day on I was up and dressed—completely healed.
I should also like to tell of a healing my son experienced when he was about twelve years of age. I had decided to take out insurance for him which would help in his education in later years. After he had been examined by two doctors from the insurance company, we were told that an insurance policy could not be given him, because he had a bad heart. I immediately called a practitioner and, being a new student of Christian Science, I remarked, "I hope he can be healed." She replied, "He is healed right now." I then told my son to continue with his athletics and enjoy himself as usual, which he did. About three years ago, when he was examined by Navy doctors, the one examining him remarked on the perfectly normal condition of his heart.
