The Importance of Testimonies

WE who have studied the older Scriptures in the light of the teachings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, recognize that it is as binding upon us to heal the sick as it was upon the Christians of Jesus' day. How could it be otherwise, in view of the ever-presence of divine, demonstrable Principle? But do we recognize as clearly that it is equally binding upon us to tell our fellows about what Christian Science has done for us?

Christ Jesus commanded his followers not only to heal the sick, but to preach the gospel, or make Truth known to the world. In view of this dual command, it should be obvious to Christian Scientists that the obligation to heal the sick and our duty to proclaim the joyful news to mankind go hand in hand.

To be sure, some of us may not yet have reached the point where we can demonstrate the healing Principle for others; but all of us can, without further delay, acknowledge often to our fellow men what God has wrought on our behalf through Christian Science. The Scripture reads (Ps. 107:2), "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy."
