Having had the privilege of ten years...
Having had the privilege of ten years in a Christian Science Sunday School, I feel that a testimony is now long overdue. Among the first small experiences for which I remember feeling grateful was the overcoming of a sense of fear during college examinations. Through holding to the thought of God as all intelligence I was able to pass with higher marks than I had ever anticipated; and when the rather dreaded diploma examination came it proved to be a happy experience.
For some years after this there were no physical problems, and consequently my study of Christian Science was somewhat neglected. But since I have been in India and had a family to bring up I have found it an invaluable help. I am very grateful for protection during many long journeys and for being able to prove that "whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 385). One particular instance might be mentioned in detail.
On the day I was clue to start alone with two small children on a thousand-mile journey I awoke with all the symptoms of an attack of influenza. While finishing my packing I felt extremely ill. It was not possible to get in touch with a practitioner, so after lunch I lay down and worked to the best of my ability. I fell asleep later and awoke at tea time feeling considerably better, although the shade temperature that afternoon was about 115 degrees Fahrenheit. By the time we went to the station at ten o'clock in the evening, I knew I was healed. I stopped over the next day with a friend in Delhi, and my husband, telephoning through to learn how I was, was very much surprised to hear that I really felt entirely well and able to make our connection that evening for the remaining nineteen hours' train journey, especially since he himself had felt very ill with the same trouble for three days. I arrived at my destination feeling quite fit,
