Dawn
This
is the hour when man is close to God.
The day breaks forth
As, out of fog and darkness,
The first pale gleams of morning touch the sod.
The dull red clay awakens; in this light
Earth is renewed:
Beauty of song and flower
Show forth the promise given in the night.
This is the hour when man in God rejoices,
His strength secure.
Steadfast throughout the night,
Trusting in Love, he heard the angel voices.
Now, with the coming radiance of dawn
He knows his triumph:
Alien shadows vanquished,
The struggle over, the adversary gone.
