Divine Principle and Its Laws

Those who may approach the study of Christian Science with some doubts and misgivings will find much reassurance in observing the infallibility of mathematical laws. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 111), "The Science of God and man is no more supernatural than is the science of numbers, though departing from the realm of the physical, as the Science of God, Spirit, must, some may deny its right to the name of Science."

The science of numbers was discovered. It was not a human invention. Obviously, its laws have always existed. Mankind is continually proving that there exists a universal law which governs numbers and establishes their relationship to the rule governing them. How very evident then must be the fact that there are universal laws of Life, Truth, and Love governing man and that these laws, if utilized according to the rules of omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent Principle, must bring results in Christian Science.

On page 113 of Science and Health our Leader tells us, "De Quincey says mathematics has not a foot to stand upon which is not purely metaphysical," and through her teachings in Christian Science we learn that demonstrable scientific rules, if correctly applied, work through invincible law to give us answers as unfailingly accurate as those demonstrated in mathematics.
